Overview

Immersion comes from more than a large screen.

A custom home theater balances image size, viewing angles, speaker geometry, low-frequency performance, acoustic treatment, isolation, seating, lighting, ventilation, and control. Every choice affects the others, which is why the room must be designed as one system rather than a collection of premium products.

AVgator creates dedicated cinemas and high-performance media rooms for homeowners who care about both experience and architecture. We establish performance goals, room constraints, audience size, content preferences, and finish direction before developing the technical layout.

Calibration is as important as installation. Once the room is complete, we align speakers, tune bass response, configure processing, optimize the image, program simple source controls, and verify that lighting and climate behaviors do not distract from the presentation.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before the work begins.

Every project has its own constraints. If your question is not covered here, our team can help define the right next step.

Ask about your project Browse all FAQs
How large should a home theater screen be?

Screen size depends on seating distance, field-of-view preference, projector brightness, aspect ratio, room light, and content. We calculate these together and can demonstrate options before construction details are finalized.

Do I need a dedicated room?

No. A dedicated room offers the most control over acoustics and light, but a carefully designed media room can deliver excellent results while serving several purposes. The design priorities and equipment strategy simply differ.

Why does acoustic treatment matter?

Untreated rooms create reflections and bass variations that obscure dialogue and change the experience from seat to seat. Proper treatment controls those interactions without making a room acoustically dead, and it can be integrated into decorative wall systems.

Can theater equipment be hidden?

Yes. Speakers can sit behind acoustically transparent fabric or screens, projectors can occupy ventilated enclosures, and source equipment can live in a remote rack. Access, cooling, noise, throw distance, and service paths must be planned early.

Do you calibrate the finished theater?

Yes. We commission signal paths, speaker levels, timing, equalization, bass management, image geometry, color modes, control, and room scenes. Calibration is documented and can be revisited after major equipment or room changes.
